ISHMAEL HAREWOOD
Architecture & Visual Arts Teacher
My name is Mr. Harewood, a New York native with a passion for art, design, and creativity. I discovered my love for drawing at the age of five and later pursued a Bachelor’s in Architecture, followed by a Master’s in Art Education. I have been teaching art for over a decade, including the past eight years at the high school level with the Department of Education. My experience spans multiple mediums—flat, three-dimensional, miniature, and mural—allowing students to tell their stories and envision the world they want to create. I am honored to join FIHS’s diverse community and inspire young minds to paint a narrative of positive change

MIN HYE PARK
Science Teacher
My name is Minhye Park and I teach science at FIHS. I earned my B.S in Biology from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.S Ed in Secondary Science Education from Hofstra University. I believe students learn science by doing science, and that my class is where my students will learn life skills that are critical for their success in college and future careers. As our students must be prepared to work collaboratively in a global and technological society, I emphasize critical thinking and problem solving, using our science content to develop good evidence-based reasoning and communication skills.

I love teaching at Flushing International High School. It is such a wonderful place for both students and teachers to learn and grow. It is my hope that our students graduate from our school and be creative thinkers, motivated action-takers and generous leaders of the community.

CHRISTOPHER MARZIAN
ELA Teacher
Project Name
Hello. My name is Christopher Marzian and I have been an English teacher at Fllushing International High School since 2020, but I have been teaching in the New York City Public school system since February 1998. I love being in the classroom, and I especially love teaching students composition skills and creative writing. One interesting thing about me is that I am a member of the LGBQT community and have been happily married to my spouse, Bill, since 2008. One fun thing about me is that I love roller coasters - the faster and scarier, the better. I also love biking, reading novels, taking road trips and caring for my three cats.
